Savannah's message highlighted the closeness of their relationship and the spiritual connection they built together during his last months:

"He's gifted me more than I could've asked for and deserved throughout my life, but 12 days ago he blessed me the most valuable gift I could've asked for. The gift of knowing where he is today, in Heaven with our Savior. I lost a piece of my heart and my favorite Cowboy, but Heaven gained an angel… Enjoy your ranch up there [sic]."

In her tribute, she further reflected on her father as a constant source of support who encouraged her goals, deepened their connection through faith, and left behind a profound void in her life.

Brandon, who built a career as a talent manager, was also widely known for his family connections — he was previously married to Kelly Clarkson, was the son of Narvel Blackstock, and had once been the stepson of Reba McEntire.

When he died, his family shared that he had faced a more than three-year battle with cancer before his passing. The statement announcing his death noted that he spent his final moments with loved ones and asked the public to honor the family's need for privacy during their grief.

His death occurred only weeks after Kelly delayed her Las Vegas residency to focus on caring for their two children, River Rose Blackstock and Remington Blackstock, while he was battling illness.

Brandon was also a father to Savannah and her brother, Seth Blackstock, from an earlier marriage. In 2022, his daughter Savannah welcomed her first child, Lake, making him a grandfather for the first time.

Brandon and Kelly's paths first crossed in 2006, and they went on to marry in 2013. Their relationship later inspired her 2015 song "Piece by Piece."

After years together, Kelly filed for divorce in 2020, and the separation was officially finalized in 2022 following significant public attention.
