Travis Kelce's Dad Ed Shares Inside Details About His Son's Engagement to Taylor Swift
The engagement that fans were dreaming of is finally here, and now they're getting an emotional, behind-the-scenes look at how the football star asked the world's biggest pop icon to be his wife.
On August 26, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement in a joint social media post that sent shockwaves through Swiftie Nation. But according to Travis's father, Ed Kelce, the real magic happened weeks before the rest of the world found out.

A Superstar's Nerves and a Quiet Garden Proposal
Ed revealed that his son had actually proposed to Taylor almost two weeks earlier. Though Travis had planned to wait and stage something grand, Taylor began growing anxious as time dragged on, prompting the NFL star to switch gears and go with his heart.
Ed recalled advising his son, "And I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event ... when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you."

Ed added that Taylor's father, Scott Swift, had been giving Travis the same advice about keeping the proposal simple. So, when the moment came, Travis chose simplicity over spectacle.
The garden setting in Lee's Summit, Missouri, offered nothing flashy — just quiet and the kind of real intimacy that money can't buy. It was there, surrounded by blooming flowers and golden twilight, that Travis dropped to one knee and asked Taylor to become his wife.

"He got her out there, they were about to go out to dinner, and he said, 'let's go out and have a glass of wine,'... they got out there, and that's when he asked her, and it was beautiful. They started FaceTiming me and their mother and her folks to make sure everybody knew. So, to see them together is great," Ed described.
After Taylor Swift said yes, the couple didn't wait long to spread the joy.

As fate would have it, Ed was surrounded by thousands of fans at a Philadelphia Eagles public practice when his phone lit up with a FaceTime call that would change everything.
"So at that practice ... I got a FaceTime call from them, and as soon as I saw the FaceTime, I saw it was Travis, and then I saw Taylor there with him, I knew what they were going to say, and they, you know, let us know," divulged Ed.
